Lowrider back to life

Brand: Cadillac

Model: Series 62 DeVille Coupe

Engine: V8

Power: 285 HP

Fuel: Petrol

Production year: 1956

The Cadillac Series 62 Coupe DeVille you see here once started its story as a bold lowrider build, riding on an air-ride suspension system with a chopped roof and a heavily modified rear end. The lighting details reflect influences from true American legends — hints of the 1963 Mercury Meteor in the upper lights and the unmistakable era of the 1959 Cadillac Fleetwood in the lower sections, all echoing the golden age of coachbuilt classics.

It could have been a stunning car — but when it arrived at our workshop, it was clear it had been assembled without care. The chassis was severely rust-damaged, the paint was cracked and peeling in multiple areas, and the windshield and rear window, both made of plexiglass, were clouded by deep scratches. Mechanically, it was far from roadworthy. Wheel hubs were loosening, and the transmission output shaft had even more alarming play. Every inch of the car showed signs of quick fixes, fragile patches, and years of neglect.

At Widi Automotive, we believe every classic deserves a chance to stand tall again. So we took it apart and brought back confidence where confidence was needed. The entire suspension and brake system went through full restoration — parts were cleaned, sandblasted, repainted, and assembled with new bushings, tighter and quieter than they had been in decades. The engine received a complete mechanical revision, including valve clearance adjustment, carburetor calibration, and ignition tuning — all the essential steps that make a classic not just beautiful, but truly usable again.

The interior also began a new life. Fresh upholstery, a new carpet set, a restored, re-chromed and repainted dashboard — everything carefully crafted to match the character this Coupe DeVille deserved from the very start.
