AV4EV Autonomous Go-Kart Development
At the request of HUMDA Lab, the research division of the Hungarian Motorsport Development Agency, Widi Automotive constructed the AV4EV autonomous go-kart test platform, originally developed by the Autoware Foundation at the University of Pennsylvania.
Once assembly was completed, the autonomous go-kart underwent functional validation and system tests at the ZalaZONE automotive proving ground, Hungary’s leading test facility for the development of intelligent and autonomous vehicles.
Working from academic-level documentation, our team not only manufactured the mechanical components and sourced all required hardware but also closed design gaps, refined incomplete sections, and engineered practical solutions where the original plans lacked real-world detail. In several areas, we introduced improvements and small-scale upgrades to enhance durability, serviceability, and integration.
This project showcases Widi Automotive’s ability to transform research concepts into fully built, functional, real-world prototypes—merging academic innovation with motorsport-grade execution.
